Why do the Australian News Media place such ridiculous importance on Sport?
Tonight’s late news on Channel 9 began with a longwinded story about some loser druggie football player being caught (again) with drugs. The next story , much later, was about the body of a young child having been found in a bag floating in a lake.
I’m outraged.. they thought that sport was more important than that poor child’s life? I feel they have a civic duty to prioritise better, what do you think?
Because Australia is a male-dominated society (more so than other “westernized” societies) that places a lot of emphasis on testosterone and being macho.
