When to start buying Maternity Clothes?

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking this question out – nothing serious… Just a first time mommi to be wondering when it’s considered a “safe” time to start buying Maternity Clothes… I should be between 4 and 5 weeks right now and am just sporting the “pregnancy bloat” *yuck*… Haha! I already find myself oogling over big shirts for the baby on board mom and I want to start buying a few things just so when I do get my real “baby bump” I can really show it off! Ha! So, when will it be okay for me to buy a few things? And how do I size myself for these type of things??? Thanks everyone!!! I hope you all have a beautiful day!!!

You may want to wait until after your baby shower to buy a lot of it to see what you get. We eneded up getting almost everything we wanted/needed. The things you can start stocking up on though are things like diapers and wipes, I was surprised how fast we went through them. Also if you buy clothes, look more for onsies and sleepers (depending on the season) and get some in each size. You’ll end up getting cute little outfits from a lot of people… not to mention your baby will outgrow each size before you realize it! Mine never got a chance to wear 75% of his 0-3mo because he was such a big baby.

As far as maternity clothes go, I would wait until you need them for the most part. Sizes are far too hard to guess ahead of time because women carry babies differently. If you are carrying high or low, front or back… the types of clothes and sizes will vary. And women start showing at different times so you want to make sure your clothes are season appropriate. I made the mistake of buying ahead of time and some of it either didn’t fit properly or wasn’t flattering. Plus I lost weight due to bad morning sickness and ended up in smaller sizes than my regular clothes. Go ahead and pick up a few basics for around the house like tshirts/tank tops, and sweat pants/shorts.
